NOTE: 2010 Shoebox Swap details coming soon....
The 2009 Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City will be here before we know it!! I am so excited to let you know that this year, I am hosting a Demonstrator Shoebox Swap and YOU are invited!!
This started out as just an event for my Downline and it grew and grew and now we need a bigger room and have room for more demonstrators to join us, which is pretty darn fun!! This will be the perfect time for you to connect with other Demos, get started on making new convention friends and stamp some great projects!!
I have even more fun for all you 3D lovers out there!! The same night as our ShoeBox Swap, I will also be hosting an organized 3D swap. These swaps will need to be completed ahead of time and since it only takes a few minutes to swap them out we can all get back to our stamping right away. You DO NOT need to be signed up for the Shoebox Swap to participate in the 3D swap.
Guidelines and Sign Up Info
Back to our Shoebox Swap!! No doubt, we ALL love to swap at convention, so going home with 56 full cards from this Shoebox Swap is going to be great!! Oh!! No worries!! You WILL NOT be making all 56 the night of the event!! You will make 30 ahead of time (1 will be your sample and yours to take home, and 1 extra for me since I will be able to do much stamping the night of the event). You will make 27 different full cards the night of the event, and the remaining completed cards will be packaged up for you to take with you when you leave. As a little bonus, everyone will receive a hand stamped gift from me.
Guidelines: Do your very best work and make sure that it is a card that can be done in 5 mins or less. We want these cards to be demonstratable so when we all arrive back home, we can use them for some FAB workshops!! Please remember that your card stock must be cut straight. You must have at least 2 layers and at least 2 accessories. Absolutely No Contraband. No Retired Products, No Exceptions!! All scoring must be done ahead of time and any further instructions need to be included with your project. Please make sure you can pack all your shoebox supplies in your carry on. Too many times swaps are lost in luggage on the plane, or in my case thrown overboard into the ocean from the Stampin' Up! cruise ship!! Didn't hear that story?? Ask me at the shoebox swap and I'll tell ya all about it!!
Important: All the pieces for your project ie. cardstock, ribbon, brads etc must be pre cut/scored and put into a plastic baggie or cello bag. All the bags need to be placed in your box on the table along with all your stamps, inks, tools etc that are required to complete your project. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be sure to label all your supplies with your name on it!!
Before joining us for the Shoebox swap, you will want to be sure to eat dinner before you arrive for yournight of stamping, but my friends, save some room for our late night snacks!! NO stamping event worth it's ink would be complete without snacks!! Get ready because we are gonna have some ROCKIN' YUMMY snacks!!
You are going to LOVE the "Death by Chocolate" spread that we can all dive into!!
Does this sound delish or what??!!
Double Chocolate Brownies
Freshly Baked Milk Chocolate Chip and White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies
Chocolate Cascade Fountain
Cubed Fresh Fruit and Pound Cake
Assorted Coca-Cola Products Regular and Decaffeinated Coffee Specialty Teas
When you check in, you will give me the 30 cards that you have already completed in a 1 gallon zip bag with your name on the outside and the 1 seperate card for me to keep. I will let you know where to setup your project station and what group you will be stamping in, A or B. The way this works is that I seperate the entire group into two stamping groups and the room is divided into two corresponding stamping areas. Group A will be stamping on one side of the room all the cards that Group B brought to make and will go home with all the already made cards from their own Group A. The reverse applies to Group B. If it sounds confusing, please don't worry, it does all work out. I have done this many times and everyone always goes home with the right amount of cards :)
After a great night of stamping fun and way yummy snacks, you will pick up your already completed card swap package labeled with your name from me...It's as easy as that!!
While we are on the subject of leaving, please understand that you must wait for everyone to finish stamping your card before you can take your supplies back to your hotel room. To speed things along, you may even ask those who have not not finshed your card of you can stamp for them. Not expected of you, but it will get you back to your room faster if several demos still need to make your card :)
Now for the all important final details!!

I'm certainly looking forward to this shoebox swap! Dawn, I've got 3 questions for ya:
1) Will we be receiving a reminder or any other contact or acknowledgement to confirm that we are indeed registered for this shoebox swap?
2) Am I correct in understanding that we make 32 completed cards in advance? (30 for the 1-gallon bag, plus 1 for you [pkg'ed separately], plus 1 for a sample to copy?) And then we set up supplies for 27 cards to be assembled at the swap? So that's cutting for 59 total cards, right? I'm still a little confused about exactly how many *completed* cards we're supposed to show up with.
3) And finally, do we provide SNAIL for everyone else to use as they assemble our card, or does each demo carry and use her OWN SNAIL while traveling from station to station? I'm accustomed to the latter format at shoebox swaps, but please clarify which way *your* swap will work.
Thanks, Dawn! I'm really looking forward to this! :-)
