For any of you that read my blog and do not know, this is my son Michael. Born with Down Syndrome and a rare form of Leukemia, Michael certainly has fought some tough battles in his little life. This is the face of the littlest Cancer SURVIVOR and littlest member of The Relay for Life Rahway Regional Center Team lead by an amazing woman and friend - Renee Sarnicki.
I would love to be able to say that I have the internal strength to do what Renee does everyday, but the truth is, I just don't. God gives all of us different talents and Renee has been blessed with the precious talent of touching peoples lives through her work as an Oncology Nurse. If you have ever had someone you love become sick or die from any type of Cancer, you know these doctors and nurses put their heart and soul into their work to make our experience as confortable as can be.
Just a few days ago marked the 3rd anniversary of my Dad's death - he was only 67. Although rarely a day goes by without thoughts and memories of my Dad, I am always especially grateful this time of year for all those that helped my Dad and my family as he struggled bravely in his fight. My Dad NEVER gave up, even as he took his last breath and I couldn't be prouder of him...ever.
You're probably wondering why I am sharing all of this with you....well, I have decided that this is my year to help those, that help others. This year, one of my goals is to raise as much money as possible for friends who give of themselves everyday to make the lives of others better through fund raising!! Groups like "Team In Training" and "Relay For Life" work so hard to raise funds every year. To that end, Renee has a goal for her Relay for Life Team - to raise $15,000.00 by June 2008. My son Michael and I are working hard to see that Dream Come True!! To make it happen we need YOUR support!!
Please come out and support my First Annual InkerUpTilDawn Card-a-Thon to help raise money in Michael's name to benefit the American Cancer Society. It will be a great day of stamping and time well spent for a great cause!! To participate, you must click on both links in the upper left column of my blog that read "InkerUpTilDawn's Card-a-Thon Intro Letter" and "InkerUpTilDawn's Card-a-Thon Sponsor Sheet". Please follow the instructions and I look forward to hearing from YOU soon!!
